Or as I prefer to call it, Singles Awareness Day (and yes, that spells S.A.D.). It’s a day created by retail companies to sell more product, just like jeweler’s came up with the idea that a man should pay three months salary for an engagement ring. Nevertheless, it is a day designated to celebrating something that everyone needs. Love.
In a commercial for Splendid, a chocolate company specializing in dark chocolate, children were asked questions about love. Namely romantic love. What I appreciate about this ad is that it highlights that their chocolate is not necessarily for everybody, similar to how children feel about romance. But, they end by saying that over time, they’ll understand the appeal of romance, just as you would understand how wonderful dark chocolate is if you were to try it. Very clever, very cute. Love it.
